If you want to own a serious piece of Top Gear memorabilia, what with the show now being changed and new people being brought on, here’s your chance. It’s a 1984 Porsche 911 and it’s not related to Top Gear program as such, but it is owned by former TG presenter James May.

Now, the mere mention of Captain Slow’s name is all the guarantee you need to make sure the car is in good working order and spotless in terms of cosmetics and mechanical health. May bought this 1984 Porsche 911 in 2007 as a hobby, weekend sort of car, and then gave it to his dad who apparently refused to drive it, for he is too old to be seen in a vintage 911.

This car does have a bit of a celebrity status, mind you, as it appeared on TV once during James May’s Toy Stories series. It was also the star of Top Gear webisodes James Drives to Work. Powered by a 3.2 liter 230 PS flat-six engine and featuring a Turbo rear wing and Fuchs alloys, May’s 911 has 88,513 km (55,000 miles) on the clock and is expected to fetch 28,000 and 34,000 GBP.

James says about his 1984 Porsche 911: “It was donated to my dad to use for the past four years, as he never owned a proper sports car. Recently he decided that he was getting on a bit to be seen in a retro stockbroker’s car, and my mother hated it.”
