Each year during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Ford shows up with a specially-prepared one-off version of their hottest Mustang, a car they will auction off at the event for the benefit of Experimental Aircraft Association’s youth aviation program. The 2015 Ford Mustang Apollo Edition is this year’s offering.

As the name clearly suggests, Ford Mustang Apollo Edition pays homage to ASA’s Apollo program that successfully sent and returned men to the moon. Ford considers that “man’s greatest technological achievement.” The car is inspired by Apollo in its design as well, boasting a two-tone black and white paint job, white stripes, and red USA lettering. A bespoke body kit and special wheels are among the other highlights of this one-of-a-kind Mustang.

“The Ford Apollo Edition Mustang salutes man’s greatest technological achievement, with the ingenuity, precision, and power that defined the spirit of American innovation,” said Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford Board of Directors. “Inspired by the Apollo program, Ford Motor Company committed itself to including exhilarating power, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary craftsmanship in this automobile, which will support the next generation of pilots in EAA’s aviation education programs for young people.”
