You may remember a few days ago a spyshot from LAX revealed that Bugatti has quietly brought an early version of the Chiron to the U.S., most likely to show it to potential buyers during a private event at Pebble Beach. These Bugatti Chiron prototypes were spotted again leaving Los Angeles same way they came in: in total secrecy.
Bugatti does not want any civilian to know what their new hypercar looks like until they are ready to reveal it in full. But the cover they have come up with to conceal the prototypes gives away some of the design features of the new Bugatti Chiron. That is deliberate, of course. They knew somebody’s going to photograph these cars, so they used the opportunity to tease the car by the means of those special covers.
What we can discern from the covers is the rough shape of the headlights and the air intakes. The horseshoe grille was, of course, always going to be there. They also reveal the position of the car’s side air intakes and its massive rear air vents. Bugatti Chiron is said to be powered by a hybrid powertrain with 1,500 horsepower. It is gunning to a top speed of over 450 km/h (280 mph) and is expected to be a lot more luxurious than its predecessor as well.
