The current generation of Ford Fiesta ST is widely considered by the experts of the car world to be the finest hot hatchback you can buy. It is, however, often criticized by the ordinary folks for not having enough oomph. That issue has now been addressed quite satisfactorily by German tuner Mcchip-DKR.
The standard Ford Fiesta ST comes with a 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbo four-cylinder engine developing 180 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. That is not a whole lot of power, but then the Fiesta is a tiny little thing that doesn’t need big power to deliver an enjoyable drive. But obviously you can always dial up that fun by increasing the power output.
Taking that ‘increasing the power’ bit way too seriously, Mcchip engineers have developed a performance upgrade kit for the Ford Fiesta ST that adds a considerable amount to the original output, bringing the total to 266 horsepower and 387 Nm of torque. The kit includes a software upgrade and modified turbocharger. The extra oomph will no doubt make the ST more fun to drive, but it might also make it a handful.
