The real Porsche 550 Spyder models – a car most famous for killing James Dean – are to be found in private European collections, boasting astronomical price tag. But there is a Brazilian firm called Chamonix who can build you a pretty decent replica of ‘Little Bastard’ as you can see here in these pictures.

What we like best about Chamonix Porsche 550 Spyder replica is that it is not trying to fool anybody that it isn’t a real thing. The car has way too many custom touches to even be mistaken for a restomod – not that anybody would restomod a classic gem like the 550. It’s an hones thing and that’s why we thing it’s cool. This car gives you all the great looks of a 1950’s classic, but with modern underpinnings.

Speaking of underpinnings, since Porsche 550 Spyder replica is basically a coachbuilt job, the customer can opt for whatever powertrain he or she fancies as long as it fits inside this tiny machine. But the default motor Chamonix offers for this car is a 1.8 liter VW unit with 125 horsepower, which should be enough for featherweight sports car.

You get a decent amount of extra garnish too with these cars, such as leather interior, deluxe tonneau cover, chrome roll hoops, and 356-style instruments. The suspension is semi-independent with optional coilovers and you get dis crakes on all four corners.
