In a joint project, Tomini Classics of Dubai teamed up with detailing extraordinaire Select Nano to prepare a star car for this year’s Emirates Classic Car Festival (ECCF) which is due later this month. It’s a 1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 and it looks as if it’s just rolled off the production line.
This Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 is so special on so many different levels, we don’t know where to begin. You know the current 991 GT3 RS, the car everybody’s talking about and going to bed at night fantasizing about? Well, this is the granddaddy of that car, where it all started. The 2.7 RS is as iconic and as legendary as cars can get.
This 1973 example has undergone a full restoration and detailing, getting a fresh original paint work in Porsche green with yellow accents and rims. The car has been meticulously restored in Germany by Bale Motorsports to its original form with black and navy blue leather bucket seats and the 2.687 cc air-cooled flat-six engine and five-speed manual gearbox it came with. The motor has been rebuilt though, and it has only 1,300 km on the clock after restoration.
Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 is a true OG. The car was considered back in the day as the finest handling sports car, even though by today’s standards it’s a complete widow maker. But that’s part of its charm and the reason why it’s so desirable. It’s a true 911.
