Forget the 918s and P1s and LaFerraris. If you can afford to spend a seven-figure sum on a car, this is what you want. This is a 1988 American-spec Porsche 959 S, on sale at Bruce Canepa Motorcars showroom in Scotts Valley, California.
What’s particularly mouthwatering about this Porsche 959 is that it looks as if it has just rolled off the production line. The car almost brand-new, which does not come as a surprise, seeing as it has only 2,193 miles on the clock. Then again, Canepa hasn’t elaborate on the details of this car, so it could well be a restoration job.
Or it could be a restomod, as is the case with some of Canepa’s classics like this simply amazing Porsche 914. The 959 S here comes with some extras such as bucket seats with racing harness and a roll cage which reinforces the restomod theory. But who cares. It looks fantastic, and at the end of the day it’s a new 959. That’s all that matters.
Boasting a Guards Red exterior and a grey cloth interior, Canepa’s Porsche 959 S is powered by a 2.8 liter twin turbo flat-six engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system. This car was the 918 of its era back in eighties, owned by the likes of Bill Gates and Boris Becker.
