Not a lot of time has passed since its debut at the Geneva Motor Show last month, but Porsche 911 R is already becoming a common sight out in the wild. That means we are going to see the car in all kinds of paint finishes and stripe colors, not all of them delightful.
The stripes have been a source of great controversy with this car since the beginning, with most hard-core Porsche aficionados, such as Chris Harris, absolutely hating them. But as it turns out, there are those who think Porsche 911 R looks better with the stripe, and not only that, they think it’s better if those stripes are finished in a brash color like green. Mind you, these are the kind of people who think white sunglasses are cool, so…
Regardless of the color combo, Porsche 911 R drivers are going to have a lot of fun behind the wheel, working that manual gearbox and clutch pedal in their effort to manipulate the 500 horsepower output of the flat-six engine. The back to basics nature of the 911 R means the car behaves in an old-fashioned sort of way which isn’t as tidy and safe as, say, a Turbo or a GT3, but a helluva lot more amusing.
