As we sat in this spy video last month, the new super-high-performance Mercedes AMG GT R is pretty much ready to roll. The company has picked the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is soon, to introduce the car to the world, and they have released a teaser to whet our appetite.
These days everything has to have a hashtag attached to it and the one they’ve picked for the Mercedes AMG GT R is #BeastOfTheGreenHell. It must have been easy coming up with this, seeing as the car is developed and perfected at the Green Hell, the Nurburgring, and it’s apparently green itself, too:
As for the technicalities, we know that the upcoming Mercedes AMG GT R features a big boy body kit with a tall rear wing, extended front spoiler, larger wheels and brakes, and a new rear diffuser with a central tailpipe. It will undoubtedly be lighter than the standard version and stiffer as well, and its 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8 engine will pack more punch – some say 580 horsepower, some say 600. The ‘R’ designation means this model is meant to be a track toy. So if you were waiting for a Black Series version of the GT, there is still hope they might make one.
