Audi announced the pricing and specs of their super-diesel-SUV, Audi SQ7 TDI, for the British market. This 435 horsepower V8 oil-burner starts at £70,970 which sounds like a lot of money for a diesel SUV, but then it boasts some pretty astonishing numbers.
Packing a V8 BiTDI with technologies such as electric powered compressor (EPC) for the turbochargers and Audi valvelift system (AVS), Audi SQ7 TDI has in its possession 435 hp and a massive 900 Nm of torque. That power translates on the road into a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.9 seconds, a limited top speed of 155 mph, and an average fuel consumption of 39.2 mpg corresponding to CO2 emissions of 190 g/km.
So yes, Audi SQ7 TDI is very close to being the best of both worlds, especially as it also comes with sport differential in its all-wheel-drive system and standard S-specific adaptive air suspension. Also standard is the fully digital Audi Virtual Cockpit which replaces the traditional instruments with a large screen that is basically a smartphone with a ton of capabilities.
The standard kit on the SQ7 in the UK market includes S-specific interior and exterior details, virtual cockpit, adaptive S air suspension, active sound exhaust system, rear view camera and Valcona leather upholstery with S embossing. Notable options include 22-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, Audi Matrix LED headlights, Tour pack featuring Traffic Jam Assist and night vision.
