This has not been a good week for McLaren owners in China and the United States as they keep crashing left and right. Here we have two of the more devastating instances of these cars biting the dust, involving a green McLaren 650S and a white McLaren 570S.
The green McLaren 650S Spider suffered the heavier blow in its Woodland Hills, California accident with the front end of the vehicle getting completely demolished. But that isn’t the extent of the owner/driver’s troubles. He is now being investigated for street racing and charged with street racing, and since two people have been hurt in this accident, things aren’t looking good for him. And of course, the 200-something grand super car is now only good for getting scrapped for parts.
As for the McLaren 570S crash, it happened in Shanghai, China, where the baby Mac was apparently involved in a head-on collision with a car at least twice its size. This one too is pretty much demolished with heavy damages to its face and sides, plus whatever mechanical damage the incident may have caused. But at least the driver of this vehicle is not under criminal investigation and the damage bill is somewhat smaller than that of the 650S. Of course, in either case the insurance companies are going to take care of most of the financial issue.
