With the market for high-performance pickup trucks showing no sign of slowing down, Chevrolet has come up with yet another new contender which they unveiled in Los Angeles. The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is an off-road-prepared version of the popular truck and it looks a lot more badass.

Let’s cut to the chase and see what are the main highlights of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. For starters, the truck comes with front and rear electronic locking differentials. Then there are those specially modified bumpers for tackling rough terrain, and the fact that it boasts Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) damper technology. So the ZR2 is not just bout brute force. It also has some brains.

Besides the fancy dampers, also used in Camaro Z28, the suspension on Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is also lifted compared to a standard model and provides an extra 2 inches of ride height. The truck also gets steel-tube, functional rocker protectors and 17 x 8 inch aluminum wheels with 31-inch Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires. So there are very few obstacles this thing can’t drive over.

Powering the ZR2 are the 308 horsepower 3.6L V-6 mated to a Hydra-Matic 8L45 8-speed automatic transmission and the available Duramax diesel engine with 180horsepower. The sophisticated AWD system, however, make this one more capable with its nine different driving modes utilizing anti-lock brakes, traction control, and stability control calibrations.
