You may recognize this livery from Porsche’s own hybrid racing car, the 911 GT3 Cup. Here though, the guys from DS Automobile of Switzerland have given the racing outfit to a road-going Porsche 991 GT3 RS. That is fair enough, seeing as the RS is basically a race car with number plates. And we have it does look rather good.

That said, this liveried Porsche 991 GT3 RS is now only good for track days and so on. You can’t drive a car dressed like a racing machine on the streets – especially a 911 which already comes with certain stigmas as far as the image is concerned – unless you want to look like a complete knob. It’s like those football fans wearing the ridiculous haircut of their favorite star, or movie fans dressing up like their favorite actor. It’s just not cool.

These photos give us an excuse to briefly compare the road-going Porsche 991 GT3 RS to its racing brother, the GT3 Cup. Whereas the road car packs 500 horsepower from a 4-litre, six-cylinder flat engine, the racing car, which by the way has the same exact engine, is limited to 485 horsepower in accordance to GT3 rules and regulations. But the Cup car is lighter at just 1200 kilograms, it’s stiffer, more focused, and rolls on slick tires. So it’s considerably quicker.

In conclusion, you should not wrap your GT3 RS to look like a Cup car. What you should do is buy the RS for road use and the Cup for track days and competitions.
