McLaren P14 – New Facts Revealed

McLaren P14 drift1 600x326 at McLaren P14 New Facts Revealed

Even though the design of the new McLaren P14, set for debut at the Geneva Auto Show, has already been leaked, the company is still managing to keep the public’s interest in it at a very high level. That is because with the Super Series Macs the looks are about 30 percent of the package. The rest is the performance, and the P14 still has a lot of surprises to reveal in that aspect.

So they keep revealing the car’s performance figures and technical goodness little by little in the run up to the Geneva show, this time giving us some delicious numbers about how McLaren P14’s performs under pressure. The new 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 they told us about last time is apparently capable of catapulting the P14 from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.8 seconds, which is mighty impressive, and then there’s the braking system which can bring you back to 0 in just 4.6 seconds. As McLaren says, these are P1 sorts of numbers in a car that will cost one fifth. The awesome brakes feature stiffer brake calipers, carbon-ceramic discs as standard and optimised brake pedal feel and modulation and work in tandem with bespoke Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

“As well as delivering the outstanding driver involvement and enjoyment for which the brand is renowned, McLaren’s new supercar will also excel in everyday driving,” explained McLaren Automotive Chief Test Driver, Chris Goodwin. “The extreme performance and dynamic prowess of the second-generation Super Series, honed by testing at the limits and beyond, provides the perfect foundation for it to be the most complete supercar across the full range of use.” McLaren has released a short film showing the car during dynamic testing, driven by Chris Goodwin.
