Electric Aston Martin RapidE Confirmed for 2019 Production

RapidE 01 600x267 at Electric Aston Martin RapidE Confirmed for 2019 Production

Aston Martin has now set a date for the production of its first ever electric car, and a production number. The potentially amazing Aston Martin RapidE will start production in 2019 with a limited run of just 155 cars.

Technical specifications of the 2019 Aston Martin RapidE are yet to be revealed, but the company has given us a few official sketches that confirm the electric Rapide will be based on the AMR concept. It gets the racing stripes and everything, but we reckon it will outperform the petrol powered car. The all-electric powertrain will also give the electric Aston instantaneous torque which means brutal acceleration. So those who are used to the lazy way Astons of the yesteryear delivered their power will be in for a shock when they try this bad boy out.

Aston Martin President and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer, said of the RapidE: “Having unveiled the RapidE Concept back in October 2015 we reach another milestone with the confirmation that we are now putting the first all-electric Aston Martin into production. RapidE represents a sustainable future in which Aston Martin’s values of seductive style and supreme performance don’t merely co-exist alongside a new zero-emission powertrain, but are enhanced by it. The internal combustion engine has been at the heart of Aston Martin for more than a century, and will continue to be for years to come. RapidE will showcase Aston Martin’s vision, desire and capability to successfully embrace radical change, delivering a new breed of car that stays true to our ethos and delights our customers.”
