Jaguar E-Pace Preview: Extreme Testing

Yes, yes, it’s a new SUV, but you have to cut Jaguar some slack because it’s only their seconds car of this type and not the eightieth like some other car makers. The new 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is set for July 13 debut as announced by this teaser they have released, bragging about how thoroughly they have tested the car to make sure it is good and reliable.

Those of you who know your alphabet have already come to the conclusion that the E-Pace is a smaller F-Pace. It’s a compact SUV, this model, with an emphasis on performance according to Jaguar. That explains why they have spent countless hours at the Nurburgring honing the ride and handling of Jaguar E-Pace.

The ‘Ring connection doesn’t necessarily mean Jaguar E-Pace is going to be awesome on the road and rubbish off of it. The testing regiment for the performance-oriented SUV has been a tough one, including more than 150 prototype racking up 120,000 hours of testing. And it has been a diverse plan, taking the E-Pace from the -40C temperature of the Arctic Circle and the high altitudes and rivers of China’s most remote provinces to the searing heat of Dubai deserts.

All of this is very admirable, but if the E-Pace is going to look like a 75 percent photocopy of the F-Pace, really, what’s the point?
