Porsche finally dropped the curtain on the new generation of their Cayenne SUV ahead of its official debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The Cayenne II is longer and more spacious than the outgoing model and also features anew design which trying even harder to look like a 911. The sleeker 2011 Cayenne will come in regular, S, Turbo, Diesel and also the new S Hybrid versions.

In order to become more efficient, the new Cayenne has also been on a hard diet to loose as much wait as possible. Not only they have used lightweight materials to make the body components, they’ve even tweaked the car’s all-wheel-drive and transmission to become extra light! As a result the new model is 180 kg lighter than the old one.

This lightness in combination with a new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission featuring a wider spread of gear ratios, an Auto Start Stop function, optimized thermal management on the engine and transmission cooling system, and on-board network recuperation help all models of the Cayenne to achieve excellent fuel efficiency and Co2 rating.

As mentioned the 2011 Porsche Cayenne is also grown in size by almost 5 cm which has direct effect on the interior space which has been redesigned to become more the luxurious cabin of the Panamera. It also comes with new rear seats which can move forwards and back by 160mm while the backrest angle has three different position settings. Standard equipment on every Porsche Cayenne includes Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive, leather interior, dual-zone automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, audio system with 7-inch touch-screen, eight-way powered front seat adjustment, 18″ alloy wheels, front and rear electric windows, and a 100-litre fuel tank.

The absolute highlight of this new generation is the world debut of the Cayenne S Hybrid with its technically highly sophisticated parallel full hybrid drive and fuel consumption in the New European Driving Cycle of just 8.2 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 34.4 mpg imp), which means CO2 emissions of just 193 g/km. The Cayenne S Hybrid therefore combines the performance of an eight-cylinder with the economy of a six-cylinder running on much less fuel. Apart form that you can have it with a 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine with 300 hp and 28.5 mpg, The Cayenne S with a 400 hp high-torque 4.8-litre V8 petrol engine and 26.9 mpg and the Cayenne Turbo with an amazing 500 bhp (368 kW) twin-turbocharged 4.8-litre V8 and average fuel consumption of 27.6 mpg.

Or if you want an underpowered but overpriced Cayenne you can go for the three-litre V6 diesel engine which has 240 bhp (176 kW) and 550 Nm of torque and returns 38.2 mpg (7.4 ltr/100 km).
