Jalopnik managed to secure two pictures of the new version of SSC Aero II supercar which is currently in the works. This car is being built to regain SSC’s title as the maker of the world’s fastest production car that was recently snatched by the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport. And first things first, it looks a helluva lot better than the original Aero, which was hideous!
Eagle-eyed readers might also spot some resemblances to the one-off Ferrari P4/5 in these pictures. And that is not just a coincident, because former Ferrari designer Jason Castriota is in charge of shaping up the new Aero. The new model is said to have much better aerodynamic characteristics than the old one.
As for the power, well it’s not clear yet but you can guess it. The original Aero broke the original Veyron’s record using 1,183 hp which enabled it to be as fast as 256 mph. Then the Veyron SuperSport came along and achieved 268 mph with 1,200 hp. So by imagine, the Aero II should have more power than that, or it must be much much lighter.
The new Shelby Supecars Aero II seems promising to become the new fastest car in the world. That said, we still think the Bugatti is better!

You are all damn fool, if ssc next gen aero would break the record of Veyron, it will anyhow regain it. It has much better body that gives it more stability than ssc aero at high speed.
More idiots that think weight affects top speed.
The 2007 AAero only did 257mph because of the road it was on. SSC used a 2.5 mile public road with an s bend midway through. Bugatti used a perfectly smooth test track that had a 130mph turn leading into a 5.5 mile straight. Fair? Not at all. The 2007 Aero could match the Veyron SS in top speed. The 2010 Aero has 1287hp and 5% less drag. It can go over 270. If what I heard is correct and the new one makes 1350hp and less drag 280 is possible.

Forget Bugatti!! That’s good ole O-Merican muscle in the Shelby. Oh wait, how can you really compare the Aero to the Bugatti. If I’m not mistaken, the Bugatti is powered by a W-16 engine, while the Aero is powered by a V-8. There is no comparison……. The SSC Ultimate Aero will kill any and all competition.
You thought wrong. The Bugatti is heavier, slower, doesnt handle as well, guzzles gas, costs a fortune (not including maintenance and the special team needed to service the car) and its design is getting old.
