When we first heard about Dagger GT, we thought it’s just some ambitious vision that will never become reality. Not So! TranStar the company behind Dagger project announced they will deliver the first 12 units in second half of 2011. This thing’s for real! To reserve one of the first 12 cars, plus a test drive in one of two prototypes that will roll out in early 2011, you have to place a refundable $1,000 USD deposit. Yep, just a grand!

To be honest we still find it a bit hard to believe the Dagger’s specs. They say the car’s Nelson Racing Engines Twin Turbo 572 will have 2000 hp, 2000 lb-ft of torque, will do 0 to 60 mph in 1.5 seconds and have a top speed of over 300 mph! They even promise a drag special version with 2,500 hp which should break the world record for the Standing Mile.

And all this for an unbelievable price! The Dagger GT–S Sport model will start at $500,000+ USD and the luxury model will start at $600,000 USD. Options are unlimited and extra. If this turns out to real, Bugatti should close its doors! They charge 2 million for 1,200 hp, Dagger offers 2,000 hp for half a mil!

They even say that pretty soon a BIG NAME race car driver will endorse the Dagger. All things aside, you have to say this car looks awfully good! Check out these pictures …
