Chevrolet Sonic Z Spec 1 at Chevrolet Sonic Z Spec Accessories Package

Looks like Chevrolet Sonic is very serious about its fresh start after the dark era of the Aveo. Even before it hits the market, it gets a comprehensive Z-Spec Accessories package.

The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic goes on sale in Fall and before that will show its entire lineup at the New York Auto Show. The car has a young and energetic design which has nothing in common with the old Aveo that it replaces. It will be available with either a 1.4L turbo 138 horsepower (103 kW) or a 1.8L Ecotec engine rated at 135 horsepower (101 kW) and 123 lb.-ft. of torque (167 Nm). It can be had with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

The 1.4 unit does 40 mpg highway.

As for the Z-Spec kit, well we don’t really dig the stupid contrasting paint job and all the graphics and stuff, but the rest of it is quite good. On the whole it includes body-color ground effects (with a silver exhaust tip), contrasting mirror caps and roof spoiler, contrasting upper and lower grille surrounds and a body graphics package, along with 16- and 17-inch painted alloy wheels. The ground effects kit features a front fascia extension, rocker panel extensions, rear fascia extension and silver exhaust tip.

For the interior it offers color accent packages in “Black Out” or “White Out.” These “Color Out” packages, plus black accents on a Summit White Sonic and Summit White accents on an Inferno Orange Sonic (showcased on the show car in New York). Additional accessories will be available for the Sonic, stuff like chrome mirror caps and door handles to cargo nets and trunk trays.

Z-Spec parts can be purchased individually, to suit customer tastes and budgets, or can be purchased as a complete package. They even offer monthly payment deals for the kit in case you can’t afford it!
