Images and details of the Jaguar C-X16 production concept have been revealed ahead of its official debut at IAA.

The gorgeous sports coupe is a showcase of Jaguar’s future design and technologies. But it’s not just a show car. Very soon it will spawn a production model, which if stays loyal to the specs of this concept, will be brilliant.

The C-X16 is indeed a hybrid car. But it’s electric motor is not there to kill the fun. It’s there to double it. It’s got a function called ‘Push to Pass’ which is activated by a red button on the steering wheel.

When you press it, the 70 kW and 235 Nm of the hybrid system joins the 380 PS (280 kW) and 332 lb ft (450 Nm) of torque coming from the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 and gives you a sudden burst of power. As a result, the car does 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds and 50-75 mph acceleration in 2.1 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 186 mph.

The C-X16 is also able to travel at speeds of up to 50 mph under electric power alone and has CO2 emissions of 165 g/km.

The combination of lightweight aluminum structure, 50:50 weight distribution, compact size (4,445 mm in length, 2,048 mm in width and 1,297 mm in height and has a wheelbase measuring 2,622 mm) and the fact that it’s a luxury two-seater coupe, is the perfect recipe for a modern-day sports coupe that is fun to drive and easy to live with.
