Hyundai Working On Sporty Family Cars

2012 Hyundai i30 at Hyundai Working On Sporty Family Cars

We knew there is a Hyundai i30 hot-hatch in the works, but, apparently, Hyundai is working on a sporty version of the i40 as well.

Hyundai has no problem admitting their family cars lack the sporty feel of the rivals. The i30, for instance, is a great car in every aspect, but it’s not just as flattering to drive as a Ford Focus. Same goes for Hyundai’s saloon cars.

Now, they are going to address this issue by offering sport versions of the available models, hotted up with stuff like stiffer suspension, body kit, and maybe slightly enhanced performance.

The i30 is already on track to get such a treatment. There will be a three-door GTI version of the car in near future powered by the 198bhp 1.6 liter turbocharged engine of the Veloster Turbo. sounds like quite a recipe to us.

The i40 is yet to be confirmed to get a sport model, which could get stiffer suspension and a body kit. Given the amazing looks of the car, a sport version would look pretty cool. It sort of needs it, if it’s going to rival the new Ford Mondeo, which is achingly beautiful and sporty.
