The new Porsche Macan was photographed for the first time during a testing session in Germany. The new model will be on sale in 2013 and is partially based on the Audi Q5.

This is the first time the car is tested with its own bodywork, which should be pretty much the final version (maybe with some minor tweaks); before this all the tests were done using the bodywork of the Audi Q5. At first glance the car looks like the Cayenne, although smaller and even uglier… at least we don’t like it all that much.

From the pictures we’d say the Macan is probably about 4600 mm long, 1890 mm tall and 1650 mm wide.

The new Porsche Macan Turbo should have a twin-turbo V6 engine with about 370bhp. The objective of this is to create a faster and more dynamic alternative to the BMW X3 and the Range Rover Evoque, while lower ranges should include two four-cylinder engines.

It is also said that there might be a 2.0-litre petrol hybrid with a 44bhp electric motor, but we’ll have to wait until October 2013, when the first units are expected to leave factory.
