Chevy SS Rendering at Rendering: Chevrolet SS Sedan

Here’s an early look at the upcoming Chevrolet SS super sedan. Well, it is actually the Holden Commodore VF, but they are the same car with different badges. The Camaro also uses this platform. Based on the Chevy SS NASCAR racer, the new sedan will be unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show to become the brand’s halo model. It is described by GM president Mark Reuss as a four-door Corvette.

The real-wheel drive SS will be powered by a version of GM’s new small-block LT1 engine that will also be used in the 2014 Corvette C7. So we can expect something between 400 to 450 horsepower. GM talks about this car as a sort of blue collar, high-performance machine for the masses. Hope they will price it like a people’s car as well. There is also no production cap for this model.

“Anyone who has the right amount of money and shows up in a Chevrolet dealership, we will sell them this car,” Reuss said. “You don’t want to over-think this stuff. We haven’t focus-grouped it. It’s going to be a really good car. People are going to want it.
