Swiss auto maker Rinspeed turns up each year at their home motor show in Geneva with a completely bonkers concept car. It is their tradition. With these cars they explore new dimensions of car ownership that no one has thought of before. This is what they are proposing for the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, and it’s called the microMAX.

Rinspeed says the microMAX is a car for today’s web-based, app-based world, whatever that means. It has three seats for passengers, one for the driver, and one child seat; it has a length of 3.6 meters and a height of 2.2 meters; and they say you can get in it with a stroller or a shopping cart.

Going with the lounge-like theme, the car comes with a coffee maker, a refrigerator, and the latest connectivity and entertainment systems. All these are of course for the passengers; the driver is just a tool to drive this box.

Come to think of it, we already have something like this. It’s called the limousine. Rinspeed has just made it sort of smaller. It is like a limo, but much less spacious and comfortable. On the upside, Rinspeed says you save CO2 emissions – because it’s electric – and costs.

Yes, you do. And in return you get a bad back for sitting upright in s small box, and every disease the other passengers happen to have, because they are right in your face.

It seems that each year Rinspeed gets a bit sillier.
