They teased it too many times, but turns out it was worth the wait. This is the Toyota Furia concept, and it is a preview of the next generation Corolla. I know it is not exactly mind-blowing, but for something with the Corolla badge on it, it is brilliant.

It took Toyota a long while, but they seem to have finally realized that mainstream mass market models do not have to be dangerously dull and boring. So they decided to introduce a bit of excitement to the mix, and designed this car around a theme they call “Iconic Dynamism”. In essence, it means that pure and simple surfaces like you see on this car convey confidence.

It’s not all simple though. The car has flared arches, and sport grilles, not to mention those cool headlights and taillights. It must be a pure design study, though, as Toyota released no details about the Furia’s powertrain, nor any pictures of its interior.

So here’s your new Corolla. We have to find another car to make jokes about.

“The Toyota Corolla Furia Concept is an early indicator of where our compact car design may lead in the future,” said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota Division. “It blends a heightened emphasis on dramatic design and modern elements of high technology to generate curb appeal that will surprise a lot of people.”
