Opel’s new and highly-anticipated small city car Adam officially enters production as the first unit rolls off Eisenach production line. They say this car marks the start of a new era for Opel and Vauxhall; so much so that they named it after the founder of the company.

The Adam is a clever bit of kit though. It offers 61,000 exterior variations and 82,000 different ways to ‘design’ the interior. Most of them are small details and that don’t really matter, but hey, you might enjoy having a car tailored to the last details for you.

Smart technologies are also found in abundance in the Adam, such as Intellilink infotainment system, smartphone integration, Apple’s voice recognition software, SIR, Automatic Park Assist, a heated steering wheel, Side Blind Spot Alert and FlexFix, the fully-integrated rear bicycle carrier.

The first ADAM was driven off the line at Opel/Vauxhall’s Thuringia factory by Steve Girsky, accompanied by 2009 European Athletics Indoor Champion, Ariane Friedrich.
