Ford Fiesta ST – UK Spec

After warming up with a performance show at Lommel, Ford announced details of the new UK-Spec Fiesta ST as it prepares to take the hot hatch market by storm. Compared to the old model, the new ST offers 20 per cent more power and fuel economy.

That is mainly due to a a 1.6-liter EcoBoost petrol engine which churns out 182PS and 240Nm of torque. It enables the car to go from 0 to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 137 mph. It also returns 47.9mpg (combined) and 138g/km CO2.

Those numbers may not seem that brilliant by today’s standard, but think of it this way: they are pretty much the same performance numbers as a BMW M3 E30. So your fun is guaranteed.

What sets the ST apart from other cars in its class is the supremely clever chassis. The car features specially-tuned suspension, steering and brakes for optimized driving dynamic, and even comes with high-tech stuff like Torque Vectoring Control and 3-mode Electronic Stability Control.

The new ST also looks pretty cool, what with its chunky body kit with unique grille, dynamic headlight design, and dramatic rear diffuser element, and a sporty interior featuring Recaro seats, unique ST detailing and Sound Symposer that pipes the engine noise into the cabin via the speakers.
