It seems the guys at Newport Convertible Engineering are actively trying to make people hate them. After making odd convertibles out of the Acura TL and the new  Range Rover, they have now chopped the top off of  first-generation Porsche Cayenne. And, well, the results are plain to see.

Regardless of the fact that it is the most tasteless conversion ever and looks like it’s been done by a four-year old, we are struggling to see the point of it all. A convertible Cayenne, heck, a convertible SUV, is a daft idea. Especially one of the Cayenne’s proportions.

It wouldn’t be so bad if you could be sure that they’ve done a good engineering job and the car won’t split in two at the mere sight of a bump in the road. But we don’t think who can live with such looks do give a damn about engineering either.

As if the car was not ridiculous enough, NCE went ahead and put some wood graphics on the sides, so it looks like old Chevys and Jeeps. Lovely! We realize they can do whatever they like with their cars, but where does it stop?
