A new set of official pictures leaked to the web reveal the new 2014 Peugeot 308 in full ahead of its official appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Traditionally, the Peugeot beginning with 3 is a duller version of the model that begins with 2, the 208 in this case. But that argument holds no water about the new 308.
Granted, the car is not as exciting to look at as the 208, but then again, it is supposed to be a bigger, more spacious, more luxurious, and the family oriented version of that car. And it does look alright. You see the influence of Peugeot’s new and tamer design language at the front of the car with a dignified grille, and headlights that manage ot be elegant while retaining their feline kind of look that Peugeots are known for.
The 2014 Peugeot 308 shares many parts with other members of the Pug family, especially the engines, including the new 1.6-liter THP turbo petrol in various states of tune, a 1.6 liter HDI diesel, and a 1.2 liter petrol for the more eco-minded users. Prices will start from 17,800 EUR and go up to 27,000 EUR.
There are reports about a hot 308 R version to be previewed by a concept model at the IAA. It is expected to get around 270 horsepower.
