By accident, or as a sort of clever teaser, Chevrolet’s website leaked the official specs and performance figures of the new 2015 Corvette Z06 Stingray on Google. The leaked data indicated that the new Z06 is powered by a 620 horsepower V8 engine.

That is a sizable increase over the standard stingray’s 450 horsepower. Likewise, the torque is also increased from 460 lb-ft to 650. This fuels the rumors that say the 2015 Corvette Z06 Stingray is powered by a V8 totally different than the LT1 in the normal models. Some say it might even have a turbocharger.

With 620 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, the Corvette Z06 Stingray – which logically should have been called the Z07 – will be the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever built. It makes you think, what Chevy has in mind for the next ZR1. The Z06 is so fast and potent, they might not even bother with the ZR1.

Expect to the see the new Corvette Z06 in official pictures over the next few days in the run up to the 2014 Detroit Motor Show.
