Bentley Continental GT3-R Officially Unveiled

Bentley Continental GT3 R 0 600x376 at Bentley Continental GT3 R Officially Unveiled

The lighter, tauter, high-performance Continental GT we told you about a few weeks ago has now been revealed by the British car maker in form of the Bentley Continental GT3-R. This limited edition model is basically a road-going GT3 car with 580 horsepower.

To create the GT3-R, Bentley took all their traditional values, put them in a bag, and then throw it in the garbage can. This Bentley is not built for travelling luxuriously with outmost comfort and class. It is built just to be fast.

Bentley Continental GT3-R is 100 kg lighter than the V8 version and boasts 580 PS (572 bhp / 426 kW) and 700 Nm of torque. That translates into a 0 to 60 time of 3.6 seconds, which is supercar fast. The car also comes with modified Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Carbon Silicon Carbide (CSiC) braking system, and a chassis tuned not for a plush ride, but cornering ability.

None of these changes will of course sit well with the traditional Bentley customer base. But the worst crime of all in their eyes would be what they’ve done to the exterior. Bentley Continental GT3-R features two big and unsightly nostrils in the bonnet and a cheap-looking boy racer rear spoiler. There is also graphics and stripes, and a cabin full of Alcantara and carbon instead of leather and wood.

Only 300 units of Bentley Continental GT3-R will be hand built in Crewe by Bentley Motorsport. You can see it up close at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in late June.
