This is what Ford has come up with for this year’s EAA AirVenture Gathering of Eagles event. It’s a 2015 Ford Mustang inspired by Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II strike fighter, built as a one-off to be auctioned for the benefit of EAA Young Eagles program.

Looking a lot cooler than the first preview, Ford Mustang F-35 Lightning features an aircraft-inspired aero kit including a massive adjustable front splitter, side skirts, and a big rear wing. The biggest highlight of the car, though, is the Lightning paint job.

Ford Mustang F-35 Lightning livery includes a titanium base garnished with yellow accents and graphics, as well as yellow calipers, a black stripe, and flags of some of NATO countries on the sills. The car is based on the 5.0 GT variant and features no mechanical upgrades, but inside the seats, instruments, and floor mats are modified.

EAA Young Eagles has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.8 million young people since 1992. It is the birth place of many future Air Force hotshots.
