Professional racing driver and part time auto journalist Justin Bell becomes the first civilian to get behind the wheel of the new Dodge Challenger Hellcat for a proper shakedown. The 707 horsepower monster has caused quite a stir in the auto world, but does it live up to all the hype?

Well, it’s hard to tell to be honest. Justin takes his green Dodge Challenger Hellcat to the race track and even though he says the car does a good job of negotiating corners, it is visibly very uncomfortable. That is fair enough, as the Hellcat is a muscle car and not meant to be on a twisty track. He should have taken it to a drag strip.

This test does give you an idea of the hellish power possessed by Dodge Challenger Hellcat. That supercharged 6.2 liter V8 motor is a thing of beauty and it sounds like the devil himself. True, apart from drag racing and pulling off monster burnouts, this car doesn’t know what to do with its 707 horses. But the mere fact of having that much power is enough reason to buy it!
