So what we were expecting as the Speciale Spider is finally revealed, and it is called the Ferrari 458 Speciale A (Aperta). Limited to just 499 units, the Speciale A differs from the Speciale hardtop in a couple of aerodynamic changes, new wheel designs, and the fact that it has a cooler stripe.

The aluminium retractable hard top on the Ferrari 458 Speciale A is the same as 458 Spider and takes 14 seconds to deploy or retract. This roof is the reason the Aperta is 50 kg heavier than the hardtop Speciale.

If you are not a nitpicky kind of person, you won’t even notice the weight difference. After all, you have the most powerful naturally-aspirated road-going V8 engine ever built by Ferrari in this car, developing 605 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque.

Performance-wise, the Aperta sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds and has a Fiorano lap time of 1’23”5. And yes, it is equipped with the Side Slip Angle Control (SSC) as well.

Ferrari 458 Speciale A comes with a unique triple-layer yellow livery with a Blu Nart and Bianco Avus central stripe as well as five-spoke forged wheels in Grigio Corsa. So although it looks the same as the Speciale for the most part, you can’t help but think the Aperta is somehow cooler.
