If you are very old, the name Lister Motor Company probably means a lot to you. If you are only a bit old, you remember them as a fairly successful FIA GT racing team. The 60-year-old brand was re-launched at the end of 2013 and since then, embolden by selling 9 limited edition cars, they have developed some ambitious plans for the future.

At the top of Lister’s wish list is launching a brand-new Hypercar in the same league as LaFerrari and McLaren P1. Now, we all know that it took some of the world’s biggest car firms years and millions of Euros to get around making these amazing machines. The new, one-year-old Lister, has sold £3 million worth of its £350,000 ‘Knobbly’ anniversary cars over the past 12 months, and they feel confident they are ready to join them!

Lister has not announced any details as to what kind of powertrain of technologies their “hyper car” might be featuring, but they did release a couple of sketches, previewing what they want it to look like – probably because that’s the easiest part of making a car.

Lawrence Whittaker, Managing Director of Lister Cars, says: “Our aspiration has always been to return the Lister brand to the forefront of people’s minds. The ‘Knobbly’ project has firmly established that the Lister name still has enormous good will and we know we have a brand with a lot of marketable collateral attached to it.  Over the coming years our ambitions are to create a world beating brand new Hypercar with a list price of somewhere in the region of  £2million. We are currently seeking external investors that have the desire to join us on what promises to be an incredible journey, because if we proceed with our ambitious plans, it is fundamental that the entire project is sufficiently resourced in order to deliver a serious, world-beating new product.”
