McLaren released further details on the P1 GTR, the track-focused version of the hybrid car which will head into production as soon as all 375 road-going P1s are delivered. This time they have released the first shots of the interior, and the details of McLaren P1 GTR unique Driver Program.

As you’d expect, the interior of McLaren P1 GTR is pretty much stripped-out, what with it being a racing car and all. Not that the standard P1 had tons of features inside the cabin, but the GTR comes only with a steering wheel, racing seats, roll cage, and two displays for showing racing information.

The steering wheel in question here is an engineering marvel on its own. It is based on the steering wheel of the 2008 Formula 1 championship-winning MP4-23 single-seater and features all the controls you need, including switches for DRS and IPAS.

At nearly 2 million GBP apiece, McLaren P1 GTR is a pretty expensive bit of kit, especially as it is essentially a toy. But to stop you from filling ripped off, McLaren has come up with this dedicated driver program tailored to suit each individual driver. That means you get your personal driving instructor and maintenance team for the six track day event that McLaren will organize for you at some of the most iconic racing Formula 1 circuits across the world. Short of giving you a and haircut and a happy-go-lucky smile, they can’t do much more to make you feel like Jensen Button!
