The feud between Ferrari and Porsche goes back all the way to the Sixties. Since then the Italians and the Germans have been at each other’s throats trying to dominate the high-end sports car segment with their GT machines. These are the latest soldiers sent to the frontline of this turf war – Porsche 991 GT3 vs Ferrari 458 Speciale.

Well, we say soldiers, but they are in fact more like Tier 1 Special Operations commandos; the cream of the crop, the best versions of the 911 and 458 range. So let’s hand over to the guys at CarMagazine as they try to find out which one of these should be the new boss:

Porsche 991 GT3 relies on decades of honing and fine-tuning applied to its engine and chassis to counter the 458’s super-sophisticated computers. The Porsche is the more mechanical of the two, featuring stuff like rear wheel steering, whereas the Ferrari is all about electronics, boasting a computer system that enables you to drift. The GT3 is in no way old-school though. It’s just not as clever as the Ferrari 458 Speciale.

Picking a winner between these two is one of the hardest decisions a motoring journalist has to make!
