It didn’t take long for Vertu to build the first Bentley smartphone since the brands announced a five-year partnership. This is it, the first ‘Vertu for Bentley’ handset, and it costs a whopping $17,100 (£10,700 / €12,500). Production is limited to 2,000 pieces.

The Vertu Bentley smartphone looks familiar to other Vertu products, except for the leather work on the back of the phone which is bespoke to this model with unique stitching diamond pattern. It also features a titanium back plate, which opens to reveal the engraved signature of the craftsman who meticulously constructed the phone, tactile diamond knurling, and metal Bentley ‘B’ wings motif on the face of the handset plus a revised version Vertu’s signature ceramic pillow.

Even though the only reason to consider spending 17 grand on this phone is because of the exquisite design and the prestige of the brands, there are a number of useful services built into this device. Bentley smartphone comes with a dedicated ‘Vertu Concierge’ service, curated events and experiences via ‘Vertu Life’, and security services from ‘Vertu Certainty’, plus a Bentley app with access to official Bentley articles, exclusive experiences, recommended routes and local chauffeur and dealer information.

The high-performance Bentley smartphone also features grade-5 titanium, solid sapphire crystal which creates a virtually scratch-proof screen and hand-finished calf leather. In terms of equipment, the highlights include wireless charging, NFC and Android 4.4 (KitKat) software, a 13 MP camera, Snapdragon CPU, 64GB of internal memory, 1080p display, Gyro and accelerometer for orientation and game play, and Dolby loudspeakers.
