Not everybody knows this, but Renault is one of Europe’s strongest brands in the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment. They are now trying to boost their presence in a branch of this market that accounts for around one-third of total global LCV sales with this, the Renault Alaskan Concept pickup truck.

The one-tonne show truck mixes practicality and functionality with style and attitude in order to appeal to a wider audience in the LCV market. The Europeans are getting more and more influenced by the Americans in this aspect. So Renault Alaskan Concept features a muscular body complete with athletic sculpted sides includes prominent wheel arches filled with 21-inch wheels. In true Renault style it also has a prominent logo up front and yellow detailing on the door mirrors, brake calipers, wheel rim centres and front tow hook.

Looks aside, Renault Alaskan Concept is also a fairly capable workhorse. The pickup has a payload capacity of one tonne and is powered by a four-cylinder, twin turbo diesel engine providing oodles of torque with low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The load bed also features three longitudinal recesses and additional storage bins on either side.

“We are now equipped to take our Global Growth Plan forward and fulfil the aspirations of business users and individual LCV customers across the world thanks to an enhanced product line-up, new services and an upgraded customer experience”, commented Mr Ashwani Gupta, Vice-President, Global Head of LCVs.
