The latest edition model to come out of McLaren’s factory in Woking, UK, is a unique version of the 650 Spider inspired by an old racing series. The McLaren 650S Can-Am is certainly very appealing to the McLaren aficionado who can recite the history of the brand in their sleep. But ordinary people may find the look of this car a bit strange.

In order to give you a better look at the McLaren 650S Can-Am while we’re waiting to see it in film, we pieced together this itty-bitty gallery with a few live pictures of the car.

The combination red body panels and carbon ancillaries is a nice one and we suspect it’ll look even better in the flesh. But to be honest with you we’re not too sure about those retro-looking white wall rims and those tailpipes. We do realize they are inspired by the vintage Can Am race car, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they look good.

In terms of technicalities, McLaren 650S Can-Am is a normal Spider with a 650 horsepower engine. It does sound different though, according to the manufacturer, thanks to that new exhaust system which is designed to recreate the noise of the original race car. The Can Am Spider is limited to 50 units and costs £255,850.
