Subaru unveiled a new design study concept for the Impreza family, previewing the looks of the car’s next generation model. The name Subaru Impreza 5-Door, though, is a bit misleading and makes you thing it’s just a different bodystyle version of the current model.

But as you can clearly see in the pictures, Subaru Impreza 5-Door Concept is a world apart in terms of design from the cheap and cheerful car you can go and buy today. Mind you, it’s a concept and concepts tend to lose a lot of their charm in the transition to become a real production model. So don’t put down any money on it yet.

Subaru promises, however, that the sharp angles and muscular features of the Subaru Impreza 5-Door, along with some other highlights of the concept such as the hexagonal grille, are going to be the defining features of the next Impreza. So the design will be invariably affected by this concept here, just don’t expect it to look as cool and crisp.

Besides the five-door Impreza, Subaru also showcased at Tokyo Motor Show a Japan-only special edition version of the current WRX, called Subaru WRX STI S207 limited edition. With only 400 production units planned, the S207 comes with a 328 PS engine, a quicker steering ratio of 11.0:1, and evised front bumper design and larger rear spoiler. But of course, you can’t have it!
