The new Ferrari 488 Spider, the open-top version of the 488 GTB, made its UK debut in an exclusive event in London. Marc Gené, Scuderia Ferrari F1 test driver, BBC F1’s Correspondent Tom Clarkson, glamorous people, good champagne, the event had them all.

Boasting a RHT (Retractable Hard Top) roof, Ferrari 488 Spider has the same twin-turbo V8 engine as the hardtop, packing 670 horsepower which is delivered to the rear wheels via a dual-clutch seven-speeder. The way Ferrari has perfected its open-top engineering, the Spider is only slightly heavier than the GTB and there is no difference in the way goes around the corner, either. And as for chassis flex and all that old-timey nonesense? Forget it. You won’t find any of that here. What you get is a high-class super car with the option of infinite sky.

Superb though it certainly is, Ferrari 488 Spider was not the only star of its own launch even in London. The gig attracted many high-profile guests besides Ferrari VIP customers, including guests from the fashion, arts and creative communities. Ferrari also showcased its ‘Tailor-Made’ capabilities with a unique display of options offered by the bespoke atelier. Below is a small gallery highlighting some of the best moment of the event.
