Turns out all the rumors about McLaren launching a more practical version of the 570 sports series at this year’s Geneva Motor Show were true. The new McLaren 570GT is not exactly what we were expecting in terms of length and number of seats, but it does come with a second boot and a side-opening rear hatch.

Although this side-opening boot lid means you can only load stuff in from the left side of the car, it does look rather cool on McLaren 570GT and can be counted as a styling feature. When open, the hatch gives you access to a 220 litres of storage (in addition to the 150 litres of the front trunk) on the leather-lined Touring Deck. So no, it’s not really a trunk as such, but somewhere to put your Louis Vuitton handbag.

Beside the extra luggage space, McLaren 570GT also comes with suspension and steering system re-tuned for comfort with emphasis on long distance cruising. The GT is pitched as the “most refined and road-biased McLaren yet” and the ultimate day to day super car. To this end the car also gets a set of bespoke Pirelli P Zero tires with Pirelli Noise Cancelling System (PNCS), further improving the plushness of the driving experience.

Other highlights of the £154,000 McLaren 570GT include slightly revised looks with an exclusive aero kit which includes an extended fixed rear spoiler, SSF (Sound & Solar Film) glass roof, and eight speaker McLaren Audio Plus system.
