Nope, the new 2017 Porsche Panamera has not yet been officially unveiled. What Mr. Dempsey, actor and racing driver, drove at the Goodwood Festival of Speed was a pre-production prototype version of the car. And they weren’t looking from any technical input from his either.

What this is, basically, is a publicity stunt. Patrick Dempsey was brought all the way to the United Kingdom so he could tackle the Goodwood hill in a 2017 Porsche Panamera prototype and create some hype for the car prior to its debut. We have to say though, as far as publicity stunts go, this has been a good one:

We have already seen what the new 2017 Porsche Panamera looks like in leaked photos, but this prototype also confirms what you can expect from it in terms of new design features. Basically wherever you see camo, that’s new. So you’re going to get new taillights on the outside and a new dashboard design on the inside. And that’s pretty much about it. There are other changes, of course, but they are too subtle to be noticed or make any difference. We’re not that moved by the exterior, but we can’t wait to see the new interior design of the Panamera, as it will invariably influence all the other forthcoming Porsche models.
