Unlike most other Korean and even European manufacturers, Mazda takes its sweet time over developing new models so they won’t have to keep revising the damn thing every year. Still, to keep things fresh they to a little bit of nip and tuck updates with every new modelyear, and here’s what they have done with the 2017 Mazda3.
As mentioned, not real change was necessary to make the 2017 Mazda3 market ready for another year. So the visual alterations are limited to a revised grille with a stronger three-dimensional look and a new front fog light bezel, revised door mirrors with wraparound turn indicators, and redesigned rear bumper on hatchback models. There is also new color options and 18 inch wheel design for the Sport model. Updates to the cabin include high quality dashboard bezels and trim inserts, addition of electric parking brake, a new leather steering wheel design and heated seats.
The 2017 Mazda3 launches in the UK in October priced from £17,595 to £24,195. The range of engines available includes 105ps 1.5-litre or 150ps, 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel and 120ps and 165ps versions of the 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol units. The latest model also comes with Mazda’s Natural Sound Smoother (NSS), revised suspension and better door seals which enhance refinement, and G-Vectoring Control (GVC) which varies engine torque to optimize wheel load to provide more precise handling and improved comfort.
