Even though nobody said the current Mustang is looking old or outdated, the Blue Oval decided to go ahead and give the car an unnecessary facelift anyway. This is the result, the 2018 Ford Mustang, and it comes with it comes with a new face that is, at the very least, pretty controversial.

We don’t know why, but this 2018 Ford Mustang sort of reminds us of the third-generation of the car, that ghastly thing that came after Ford made sure the era of the magnificent round-headlight models was completely over. The new one has the same whiff of what-the-hell about it, if you know what I mean. That is not to say the car is absolutely horrible to look at. Fortunately, the rear-end appears to be intact apart from a very gay-looking spoiler. But, you know, what the hell, Ford?

So the face-lifted 2018 Ford Mustang comes with a new set of headlights that seem to be the result of an order by the top brass to the designers demanding they be made fancier. There is also heavily revised grille and bumpers, featuring new slats and air intakes and aero parts, all of which are made to look more linear and triangular, which is to say they sort of lack the finesse you would expect from a legendary nameplate like the Mustang. Well, we all knew the pony was going soft when they started putting a four-banger in it!
