Renault Sport takes the art of selling branded merchandise to a whole new level by producing a 129 Euro teapot! The Renault Yellow Teapot is an ordinary teapot in that it’s just a pot painted yellow, but its shape, and the very name itself, has a rather remarkable history behind it.

You see, Yellow Teapot was a nickname for Renault Formula 1 car model RS01 which back in 197 during the Silverstone Grand Prix. This car was the first F1 car to have a turbo motor, later used by pother teams, and as you is always expected with new technologies, it was plagued with problems and white smoke coming out of its engine was a common sight in those days. You are getting the picture, aren’t you? a Renault F1 car in yellow, white and black livery, with smoke pouring out of it.

It was team boss Ken Tyrrell who first used the nickname “Yellow Teapot” as a joke. The expression was adopted by the membres of his team, then by other teams at the following Grand Prix events. The RS01 was thereafter nicknamed The Yellow Teapot. And so celebrating 40 fairly glorious years in the sport Renault is now presenting an actual Yellow Teapot. The pot is limited to only 40 copies, each priced at 129 Euro, and it will be launched in early September.
