New Jaguar XJ comes before year-end

The replacement for current X-Type is under development at Jaguar and is confirmed to launch before 2010. The car will probably makes its debut in July, going on sale in December 2009.

New XJ will not grow in length but will be wider and more spacious while featuring a totally new design. It will also get an aluminum body. New XJ will be a rear wheel drive car through a six-speed automatic gearbox which will be linked to some new stuff under the bonnet.

Beside the entry level V6 petrol model, there will be the  new V8 petrol with 385 hp, from XK and also a new V6 diesel which develops 275 hp. This diesel V6 is one of the best diesel engines around in terms of power and fuel efficiency. The car might also spawn a hybrid variant.

News is that the long rumored Jaguar XE is in the pipeline as well, although there is no official statement on it. If it’s gonna become a reality it won’t come anytime sooner than 2011.
