Next week at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Lexus will unveil the new CT 200h hatchback model which is based on the LF-Ch Concept. But now we can have an early look at this car and its details thanks to some leaked press materials before its official debut. Designwise, the CT 200h seems to be inspired by the IS and the new RX, and like all Lexus models, it’s a bit dull! But it’s the car’s sophisticated hybrid powertrain which can cause troubles to the competition in this segment.
Lexus has put their previous hybrid experiences into good use here to make a brilliant system for the CT 200h. It’s powered by a 1.8 four-cylinder petrol engine and a magnet synchronous electric motor. They are coupled to a new type of electronically controlled CVT gearbox.
Despite being an eco-minded hybrid car, the CT 200h is trying hard to also have some sportiness! It comes with McPherson and double wishbone suspension system and it has 17-inch alloys… but none of these thing would appeal to the typical Lexus buyers, because they have no concept of sportiness in the first place! What they want is peace, quietness and economy and this Lexus Hatchback seems to another boring machine for people with beard!
Official details should be released in the next couple of days.
